Marta Andreasen was elected as UKIP MEP for the South East in 2009 and sits on  the Committee on Budgetary Control in the European Parliament.

In January 2002 she had been hired as the EU’s Chief Accountant, their first ever professional accountant. However, she was suspended from this post after refusing to sign off the 2001 accounts which she felt lacked safeguards and could be altered without leaving any trace.  She was eventually sacked for “not having significant loyalty” to the EU.

More recently, in December 2009, European Parliamentarians voted to award themselves a staggering £1300 a month pay rise.  Marta was the only MEP on the Committee on Budgetary Control to reject the pay rise, calling the decision “incomprehensible”.

"It is disgraceful that Euro MPs have just awarded themselves an extra €1,500 (£1300) per month.  At a time when the political class is held in such contempt, to be awarding themselves extra money is incomprehensible." Read more on this here>

On February 4th 2010, Marta wrote an open letter to David Cameron, challenging him to come clean about what he intends to do to defend British Justice. Find out More>
